Is 180 mm enough? For most household parts, toys and multi-color figures, yes. Larger parts can be split in the slicer and glued.

Which materials work? PLA, PETG and TPU. Avoid ABS/ASA — the printer is open and small parts may print, but larger ones warp.

Is it a good first printer? Yes. Setup takes minutes, calibration is fully automatic and the community has plenty of profiles. It is one of the easiest printers to start with.
