AMS lite Setup & Filament Loading
The AMS lite is an open, four-spool feeder that lets the A1 print in up to four colors or materials in one job.
Setup
- Mount the AMS lite on its stand next to the printer, or on top of the frame with the official bracket.
- Connect the PTFE tube from the AMS lite hub to the toolhead and plug in the cable. Keep the tube free of sharp bends.
- Hang the spools so they unroll toward the feeder, then push each filament end into its slot until the motor grabs it.
Avoiding jams
- Cut each filament end at a sharp angle before loading — a blunt or bent end is the most common loading failure.
- Use spools with a smooth, round edge. Cardboard spools can shed fibers and slip; a printed adapter ring helps.
- Keep the AMS lite away from very damp rooms. It is not enclosed, so moisture-sensitive materials such as PETG or TPU should be dried first — see the Filament & Material Guide.
Note: TPU cannot be fed through the AMS lite. Load it from the external spool holder instead.
Saving filament on color changes
In Bambu Studio, use Flush into objects' infill or a prime tower with reduced flushing volumes. Light-to-dark changes need far less purge than dark-to-light.
