AMS Setup & Filament Loading

The P1S uses the same AMS unit as the X1 Carbon — it holds up to four spools and feeds whichever one your print calls for through a shared PTFE path.

Loading a spool

  1. Open the AMS lid and insert the spool so filament unwinds in the correct direction.
  2. Feed the tip in until the AMS's internal rollers grab it.
  3. Confirm on the Handy app or touchscreen that the slot shows the correct material and color.

Materials that should skip the AMS

Warning: TPU and PA/PA-CF are prone to jamming in the AMS's long PTFE path. Load these direct-to-toolhead using the printer's side filament port instead.

First-time tips

  • Keep a desiccant pack in each AMS bay.
  • If a spool feeds slowly or struggles, check it spins freely on its spindle.
  • Run a filament calibration for any material you haven't used before, after loading all slots.

AMS vs. AMS Lite

If you're comparing accessories: the AMS used with the P1S and X1 Carbon is the full four-spool unit with its own PTFE routing, distinct from the "AMS Lite" system used on Bambu's A-series printers — they aren't interchangeable, so buy the version matched to your printer.

See AMS Filament Jams & Loading Failures if a slot won't load or unload correctly.
