HMS Error Code Reference (Overview)
The P1S uses the same structured HMS code system as the X1 Carbon — codes like 0700-8004-1225-08 shown on-screen and in the Handy app, with each segment identifying a subsystem and severity.
Reading the code
- The first group generally identifies the subsystem (AMS, extruder, hotend, motion system, etc).
- Later groups narrow to the specific fault.
- Check Bambu Lab's official wiki for the exact code, since new ones are added with firmware updates.
Common categories
Filament / AMS feed errors — the AMS pushed filament but the toolhead's hall sensor never confirmed arrival. See AMS Filament Jams & Loading Failures.
Nozzle temperature errors — the printer halts if the nozzle isn't heating as expected, protecting against a wiring or thermistor fault.
Motion system errors — a stepper motor stall or an axis not reaching its expected position, often mechanical.
Camera-based print failure detection — since the P1S has a monitoring camera (added to this series via firmware), a detected failure (like a knocked-over print) can pause automatically. This is a safety/monitoring feature, not a hardware fault code in the traditional sense.
Tip: Before deep-diving a specific code, try the universal first fixes: full power cycle, reseat the affected spool or cable, and check for debris in the AMS buffer or PTFE path.
