Common Print Quality Problems & Fixes
Name the defect with the Print Defect Visual Glossary first.
- Layer shifts at high speed: check belt tension and that the frame screws are tight. A loose frame is the most common cause on a self-assembled printer.
- Ringing: re-run input shaping, and put the printer on a heavy, stable table.
- Rough walls: the filament cannot melt fast enough. Lower the max volumetric speed in the slicer rather than all speeds.
- Stringing: dry the filament and tune retraction — see Filament & Material Guide for temperatures.
