Common Print Quality Problems & Fixes
Use the Print Defect Visual Glossary to identify the defect.
- Wobble or Z-banding: re-check the eccentric nuts — loose wheels are the most common cause on V-slot printers.
- Ringing: the factory input-shaping values are a starting point. Measuring your own requires an accelerometer; until then, lower outer-wall acceleration.
- First layer uneven at the edges: heat the bed fully (including the outer zone for large prints) before leveling, then save the mesh.
- Stringing: dry the filament and tune retraction for the direct-drive extruder (short distances, around 0.5–1 mm).
