Firmware Updates & Bambu Studio Profiles

Two separate firmwares

The printer and the AMS (if you have one) each run their own firmware, and both need updating — an outdated AMS firmware can cause loading issues even with the printer itself fully current.

Updating firmware

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi (see Wi-Fi, LAN & Cloud Connectivity).
  2. Check for updates from the touchscreen, Handy app, or Bambu Studio's device panel.
  3. Never update mid-print or power off during an update.

Tip: The P1 series has received significant feature additions via firmware over time (like camera-based AI print monitoring) rather than only at launch — it's worth keeping current even if nothing seems broken.

Bambu Studio profiles

Bambu Studio ships and updates print profiles per filament and nozzle size. Accepting a profile update prompt is generally safe — it won't silently overwrite your own saved custom profiles.

Custom profiles

Save tuned settings as a new profile rather than editing a stock one, since stock profiles refresh with Bambu Studio's own updates.
