Firmware Updates & Bambu Studio Profiles
Two separate firmwares
The printer and the AMS each run their own firmware, and both need to be kept current — an outdated AMS firmware can cause loading and calibration issues even when the printer itself is fully up to date. The Handy app and Bambu Studio both surface pending updates for each separately.
Updating firmware
- Connect the printer to Wi-Fi (see Wi-Fi, LAN & Cloud Connectivity).
- Check for updates from the touchscreen system menu, the Handy app, or Bambu Studio's device panel.
- Never update mid-print or power off the printer during an update — let it complete fully.
Tip: Read the release notes before updating on a printer you rely on for time-sensitive work — occasionally a firmware update changes default behavior (like AMS filament-runout handling) that's worth knowing about first.
Bambu Studio profiles
Bambu Studio ships and updates print profiles per filament and per nozzle size. When it prompts about a profile update, it's generally safe to accept — like PrusaSlicer, it won't silently overwrite your own saved custom profiles.
Custom profiles
Save your own tuned settings (temperature, flow, cooling) as a new profile rather than editing a stock one. Stock profiles get refreshed by Bambu Studio's own updates, and any direct edits to them will be lost.
